Listed some "stuff" on ebay!

I've been a busy little bee here today and got some stuff listed on ebay tonight. I've been kind of avoiding them since they raised their fees so much. Seems like they get too big a cut if you ask me!

My son was going to throw away his Legos, but I intercepted! I listed them on ebay and there's over 4 pounds! We still have more in plastic cases, but we'll see how these go.

This past summer, a very nice lady from TN gave me some sheep's wool and Llama wool. I tried the llama's wool for doll hair, but it just isn't working for me. So, I listed a bag of that. It's over 6 ounces and the auction starts at $1.99!

And last, but not least, I listed a Primitive Star Nodder that I made from wool felt in the Penny Rug style. Works great as a Christmas Tree Topper too!

So there's my "stuff" for today. :)
I'm making Santa nodders, Santa Cat nodders, and more Star nodders. I'm running out of bedsprings! Gotta start hunting again for some to recycle. :)

Have a great one!

p.s. still no more mice! Just of just been a loner???

Hey, did you get the joke email about the Christmas slipper made from maxi-pads? Well, crafter that I am, I said, "I can make those!". So I did. I put them in the Christmas Cabin packaged in cute snowman bags, made tags for them explaining the benefits of these ~particular slippers~, and they are for sale at $3 a pair! The perfect "gag gift" for the lady you need to buy for. And, I sold a pair the first weekend!

Here's some photos!

If you find that you just can't live without a pair, just send me an email. These slippers are:
* Soft and Hygienic
* Non-slip grip strips on the soles
* Built in deodorant feature keeps feet smelling fresh
* No more bending over to mop up spills
* Disposable and biodegradable
* Environmentally safe

A mouse in the house!!!

Oh gosh, I had to apologize to my son for thinking he was seeing things. I was cleaning off the microwave the other day and there was "evidence" of a mouse having been there! Then I looked along the back of the counter and there was more "evidence" all the way across the back! The counter is dark blue (yuck), so I hadn't noticed it before. I also have found "evidence" in the cabinet under the kitchen sink and in my desk drawers! So, I bought some new plastic traps that are like a clip that you put on chip bags. They're pretty easy to use and you don't have to touch the actual part where the mouse goes. Caught a mouse the first day under the sink! I told my son that disposing of it was the "man's" job, so he had to take it outside and dispose of it. Haven't caught anymore and that was 2 days ago. Seems unlikely that there was only one, but maybe so???

On to happier subjects.......I will soon be licensed to perform weddings! I have a small wedding photography business and someone suggested to me to get "ordained" and be able to do a whole package. So, I went on the internet and found a church in CA that "ordains" you for free! I'm not really liking them saying that I'm now a minister cause I think that is more a "God" thing and should be more sacred than just going on the internet. I am calling myself a wedding officiant. I can offer my dad's cabin where we have the Christmas shop as part of a package. No one around here does this, so it may just start something! There's basically no expense to me except for the $15 for my certificates to show the courthouse. We'll see how this idea goes. :)

I've been searching on the internet also for new shows to do in 2009. I want to get out into more prosperous areas and do less shows, but hopefully make more money because of the areas of the shows. Have I confused ya??? :) I've been doing all the little local shows and people around here are having hard times lately, so they don't have money to spend on extras like crafts.
Some shows I'm going to check into are Jonesborough Days in Jonesborough, TN which is July 4th weekend, or the same weekend is Christmas in July in West Jefferson, NC. Another new one for me will be the White Squirrel Festival in Brevard, NC which is Memorial Day weekend, and then the International Festival in Waynesville, NC on July 25th. It's part of the Folkmoot USA, North Carolina's Official International Festival. If you've been to or sold at any of these shows, please contact me and let me know how you did!

Guess I'm all caught up now. :) I've got to finish up a Dachshund doll for an etsy customer and then it's back to stuff for the Christmas Cabin.

have a warm, snuggled up one!

Wednesday creations

Well, I was a busy bee yesterday! I made 5 of these snowmen with crows! I also worked on other projects, but this is what I got completed. :) I had received one similar to this in a swap last year and it looked easy enough to make, so I did!

Well, a short post is better than no post. Isn't it??? gotta go and get some more crafting done for the weekend at the Christmas Cabin. This weekend is the Toe River Arts Council (TRAC) Studio Tour, so we're expecting lots more people in town. Here's a link so you can check it out!http://www.toeriverarts.org/studiotours.html

have a good one!

Lazy Sunday zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I had planned to go to church this morning with a friend, but I was snuggled up in my "cocoon" (aka bed) with my sweet little dachshund Annie and I couldn't bring myself to go out in the cold rain. So, we canceled on church and slept till almost noon! I got up, cooked some bacon and eggs, watched some tv, then went back to sleep again!

I had to eventually get up and go to McDonald's for a gallon of sweet tea. :) Now it's late at night and I'm wide awake. Almost. :)

I've spent most of my awake time on the computer today just browsing and checking out craft shows I might want to do in 2009, reading online prim magazines, etc. Just a lazy Sunday.

It's been raining most of the day and my back deck is all icy. It was so cute when my little doxie went outside and her feet kept sliding as she tried to walk. Annie just had her one year birthday in October. She's still a challenge on the potty thing, but I couldn't love her anymore than I do.

Fluffy had just had a haircut when the photo was taken. She is peke/chi and will be 10 in January! Annie is a red dachshund (1 yr. old), and Shorty is almost 3. He's a red dapple dachshund and just a little chubby. :)

I'm expecting to get a call about school being canceled. I doubt it will warm up overnight, and if it's already icy, it's not gonna melt. More sleep!

Looking for some awesome craft shows to do in 2009. Thinkin' maybe the Hendersonville Apple Festival, Olde Salem Days in Virginia, Belle Chere in Asheville, and Ashe County's Christmas in July. If you've been to any of these and know if they are fantastic or just so-so, please let me know! I did about 10 shows in 2008 and I'd rather find some really great larger shows instead of doing all the little small town ones.

Sleep well and stay warm!

Happy Belated Thanksgiving!

Well, I'm a little late as usual, but not too late to wish you many, many blessings from our Lord!

I've been busy with family, working, shopping and crafting. No early morning things as I am NOT a morning person! There wasn't anything out there that I couldn't live without, so I slept through the madness.

I think I still need to explain why my son woke me up at 1:30am. Sorry to leave you in suspense there. :) Well, I was sound asleep in dream land and he was doing push ups! (he's 16) Imagine that at 1:30am! He "claims" he saw a mouse run behind his hamper. Then again behind his tv cabinet. Now, keep in mind that we have lived here over a year and have never even seen one speck of mouse droppings. I told him to go to bed and we'll check on it in the morning. Noooooo, we had to look for it at 1:30 in the morning! So, he proceeded to tear apart his whole room, shaking the covers, moving furniture, etc. No mouse. After all that, he was satisfied enough to go to bed. After we set 3 mouse traps. We both dreamt of mouse traps! Three days later, we set off the traps and put them away. No mouse. I'm not sure if there ever was one, but he said he'll take it to his grave that he saw a mouse. (lol)

Now, on with the current stuff. We went to breakfast on Thanksgiving at my local "Cheers" restaurant where everyone knows your name, and that you always get sweet tea. :) They were offering free breakfast and if you gave a donation, it went to the owner's church benevolence fund. I took my sister-in-law, niece and nephew that are visiting from GA, and my son. We had a great breakfast and gave our donations to a worthy cause.

My son is the one with the "mop head" and I'm the one in the green jacket. Don't ya just love my nieces hat? She got it at Target! It reminds me of the flapper girls.

After breakfast I came home for a few hours and finished a winter angel wreath.

I love how it turned out! It's one of those things that I'd like to keep for myself, but I can always make another one. It's for sale in my etsy shoppe or on my website. http://www.priviesandprims.com/.

I also made lots of candy cane ornaments and got stuff tagged to put in the Christmas Cabin. We had a great day at the Christmas Cabin yesterday and I took this photo last night.

You can see more photos at http://www.handcraftedchristmasinthecabin.com/

Time for me to get some work done and get out of my jammies. :)

Have a blessed one and leave the charge cards home!

Where's the Snow???

Well, it's 9:39am here in NC, no snow and the sun is shining! Guess mom is right on the weather thing. She says, "you get up, you look out the window, and that's the weather." We got a 2-hour delay out of it so we got to sleep a little later, which was really needed since my son woke me up at 1:30am! (more on that later today)

Wanna make some Snowman Poop packets for your stocking stuffers? Here's a link for a free graphic to print out. It's got the Snowman Poop poem. Thanks to sherylsgraphics.com!
http://www.sherylsgraphics.com/snowmanpoop2.html She's got lots of cool prim freebies!

Time to get ready to drive my son to school. Gotta get him up first!

I'll be back later to explain why he woke me up at 1:30am. :)

Waiting on the snow!

We're supposed to get some snow tonight and tomorrow, so I'm hunkered down and staying warm! Most people go to the grocery store for bread and milk when a storm is coming, but I go to McDonalds and get a gallon of sweet tea. What else would I need if I'm stranded, but some good ole' southern sweet tea. :)

Well, I just got taught how to add a slideshow in my blog. (thanks Deb!) Go to the bottom of my blog page to see a slide show of my past and present creations. Can you figure out which one is Bubba???

Gotta go and get some supper. And, some more sweet tea. Stay warm and safe!

A good junk mail

I get so many junk emails that I usually just delete them without even reading them. This one I chose to read and I want to share it with you.

New Christmas Poem TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS, HE LIVED ALL ALONE, IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF PLASTER AND STONE. I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE, AND TO SEE JUST WHO IN THIS HOME DID LIVE. I LOOKED ALL ABOUT, A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE, NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS, NOT EVEN A TREE. NO STOCKING BY MANTLE, JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND, ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES OF FAR DISTANT LANDS. WITH MEDALS AND BADGES, AWARDS OF ALL KINDS, A SOBER THOUGHT CAME THROUGH MY MIND. FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT, IT WAS DARK AND DREARY, I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER, ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY. THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING, SILENT, ALONE, CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME. THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE, THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER, NOT HOW I PICTURED A UNITED STATES SOLDIER. WAS THIS THE HERO OF WHOM I'D JUST READ? CURLED UP ON A PONCHO, THE FLOOR FOR A BED? REALIZED THE FAMILIES THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT, OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT. SOON ROUND THE WORLD, THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY, AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY. THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR, BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS, LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE. I COULDN'T HELP WONDER HOW MANY LAY ALONE, ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME. THE VERY THOUGHT BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE, I DROPPED TO MY KNEES AND STARTED TO CRY. THE SOLDIER AWAKENED AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE, 'SANTA DON'T CRY, THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE; I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM, I DON'T ASK FOR MORE, MY LIFE IS MY GOD, MY! COUNTRY, MY CORPS. THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP, I COULDN'T CONTROL IT, I CONTINUED TO WEEP. I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS, SO SILENT AND STILL AND WE BOTH SHIVERED FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL. I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT, THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR SO WILLING TO FIGHT. THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER, WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE, WHISPERED, 'CARRY ON SANTA, IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE. ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH, AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT. 'MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND,! AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT.
I guess I've finally caught up with the times. I'm officially a blogger!

I'll try to keep this updated with the latest happenings here at Privies & Prims.

I create primitive folk art dolls, stitcheries, some wool felt and penny rug things, primitive Christmas ornaments, stenciled wood signs, handpainted items, and so on and so on.

I'm also the organizer for the Prim Crafter's Conference being held in Burnsville, NC in May 2009.

And, I'm the organizer for Handcrafted Christmas in the Cabin located in Burnsville, NC. It's a cute cabin that my dad built and I've gathered some friends of mine to set up a Christmas shop with me!

I'm currently working on things to sell in the Christmas Cabin since we try to have new offerings each week. I'm making a cute snowman that is cooking some smores! The pattern is from Soft in the Head. She's one of my favorite pattern designers. I am completely and throughly addicted to patterns! Things to do before I die----make all the things I have patterns for!

Well, that's my so creative intro. :) I'll be staying in touch as much as time allows.

Have a blessed one!
