Primitive Stenciled Pillows???

I've got so many cool new stencils that I haven't used yet. During our house remodel, I gave the contractor a very important rule-NO wood gets thrown out until I sort through it. I kept tons of boards to make signs with, but just haven't been in the mood.
A few nights ago, I got the bright idea to stencil on muslin, then stitch it to a pillow!
Here are the results! I think they turned out pretty good and I didn't have to drill any holes or attach any wire. :)
I'll be listing them in my etsy shop very soon. Right now, I've got to go pick up my son from his friend's house and I'm honestly too tired to be doing the details of listing things on etsy tonight.
This vintage fabric was given to me by a friend. It was her aunts, who was around 100 when she died!

I've got lots of new primitive crafts finished and some new photos of my store. I'll not overload you all at once with them, but instead, I'll space it out over the next few days. Stay tuned for more!

Some Prim Decorating~

I moved in to this house in late October and this week I finally unpacked the decorations and made my home a bit more primitive. I put it off long enough!

I'm already thinking of things I can make to help decorate my home. Oddly, only a few things that I have, were made by me. I end up selling everything I make, so I don't have any for myself.
I'm loving what I've done, but I need sooooo much more. I still have to do the kitchen, dining area, bath and bedrooms and there's still empty walls in the living room.
I painted the rag dolls on old boards from a local cabin. I had seen the photos of prim dolls and painted the boards from those. They are probably one of my favorite things I've ever made.
I made the Americana black doll that's on top of the tv cabinet, but I sold it last week. I brought it home to pack up for shipping, and used it for the photo. I'm thinking of putting a homespun curtain up to cover the tv when we're not using it.The spring cross stitch pillow is made by me, but it's for sale also. I must stop doing that! I think that's all I made myself. Everything else I bought.
The cabinet with the curtain on it, hides our shoes. Instead of them being on the floor by the door, I painted the cabinet and put a curtain on it. I bought that at a flea market sale for $5! It was missing the doors which is why I guess it was donated. There are two drawers on the bottom that I still need to put the knobs on. Oh, I also made the little "simplify" stitchery pillow hanging on the star rack.


I still have painting to finish on cabinets, walls and baseboards.

Since I'm just getting started with this, things may be switched around before it's all said and done.

I have a triple pane window that I want to get mirrors put in. I may place that over the couch. Some of the stuff looks a bit miss-matched to me, but it's good for now.

I'll also be making homespun curtains in barn red/tan cotton. The ones that are there now are only temporary. Look closely and you'll see that I didn't even hem them. :)

A Bird Landed on her Head!!!

This ugly doll has a bit of a story.

The pattern started out as a witch doll. I don't do witches, so I was just going to make her as a mean old lady.

I got her stuffed and coffee stained, then when I went to put it together, it just didn't look right to me. I was going to cut it open and take out the stuffing to reuse. Then, I thought I'd just reshape what is now her head, which was supposed to be her neck according to the pattern.
I cut open the bottom and started to take out the stuffing, then I thought,,,,,,maybe I could use it as it is, since the top part is more narrow than the bottom. So,,,,,,,I drew on a face, needle sculpted the nose and mouth and went on from there.

The short arms and legs were originally supposed to be attached at the bottom of a dress and the sleeves, which is why they're so short. I decided to just attach them to the "body" and have a short, stumpy doll.

The red bird was for a snowman pattern. I made the snowman and the bird over a year ago, but never finished it. The bodice fabric has cardinals on it, and I remembered that I had that cardinal in a bag of odds and ends that I had made. I sewed the blonde sheep's wool on, then perched the bird on top and I liked it! I put a few stitches on to attach the bird to the doll's head, so it won't be flying away. :)

When she was all done, I liked her! She's ugly, but I like her and I'm hoping someone else will too!

I think today may be our last snow day for awhile. The sun is shining and it's actually a bit warmer today. School has been out all week, but I think the vacation may be over!

Finished & ready for adoption~~~

I know it's cold and I know it keeps on snowing, but I am LOVING all the time I get to spend at home crafting! I have gotten so many unfinished projects finished. It's a good feeling to clean out the ufo box. :) Let it snow some more!

I finished up the two mother/daughter bunny sets today and they're up for adoption!
I also got all the mini-pillow pincushions listed. All 10 of them!

Old Farmhouse Gathering Spring Celebration!

Finally!!! Spring is here. The Celebration that is!!! I belong to a great group of gals that sell on etsy~ and each holiday/season, we make things for a "celebration".

What I did today ~~~ & tonight~

Sometime last year before Easter, I made these rabbits, but never made their clothes. The doll on the far right is an old lady doll. It's been at least 6 months since I made her and she's been naked ever since!
Today, I cut out the clothes and soaked them in coffee. Tomorrow, I'll sew them up.

I did these little stitcheries about a year ago also and I didn't even know what I was going to do with them. Today, I sewed fabric on the back, stuffed them, and now they're mini-pillows!

These little prairie dolls are attached to vintage wooden spools. Another way to use up those scraps we all have. :) I've brushed them with coffee and they'll dry overnight, making them look more grungy. The pattern is from Rags-n-Tags.

All these items will be listed in my etsy store as they're finished up. The little pillow ornaments are done now, but I'm going to bed!

NEW~~~Primitive Doll, Rag Balls, & Stitchery Pin!

I had an idea today and not many customers, so I just went ahead and did it! I wanted to make a stitchery pin for Spring and this is what I came up with. I came home and dipped it in coffee, put it on the floor heat vent to dry, then sewed the backing on and stitched a pin back on. Finished! Click on the photo if you like it enough to buy it! My etsy group is having a Spring Celebration that starts tomorrow and I signed up to enter two items. My first offering is rag balls and Easter eggs. I used my thrift store styrofoam balls and eggs and covered them with various fabrics, then coffee stained them. Great bowl fillers, or put them in a primitive Easter basket!

My second item for the Spring Celebration is a primitive Annie doll to hold your grocery bags. Her dress has log cabins on the fabric for all of you suffering from cabin fever! It also has sheep on it and I gave her a sweet grunged terrycloth sheep all for herself. :)

The Spring Celebration items will be available in my etsy shoppe on Sunday. Sorry, I ain't allowed to list them before then. :)

A fresh tub of coffee for the primitive doll clothes!

Kim from Valley Primitives says I'm like the Energizer Bunny, so I thought I'd share how I work. I NEVER make only one doll at a time. I cut a bunch of patterns in one day, then stuff them all together while I'm watching tv, then I take it from there.
Right now I'm working on 4 dolls at once. They will be kitchen dolls to hold grocery bags. Each one will have different clothing fabric. There will be log cabins with sheep, apples, Americana stars, and one with garden flowers. The pattern is from Sweet Meadows Farm.
I just made up a fresh batch of coffee/vanilla mix and have their clothes soaking. While they are soaking, I will get to stuffing. :)
Not the Energizer Bunny at all. I just love what I do, am good at multi-tasking, and can't stand to be idle. :)

Primitive Topsy Turvy Prairie DOLLs!

Remember the topsy/turvy dolls? These are first ones I have made. I can just see a little girl in a prairie church playing with these. :) If you want these for a little girl, you'll just need to remove the rusty safety pins holding the date tags on.
