Fluffy gets a haircut

Times are tough all over, so Fluffy can't afford to go to the doggie spa. She needed a haircut desperately, so I did it myself! I'm not trained to groom dogs, so it's probably gonna look pretty rough when she dries. I gave her a bath to get all the loose hairs off and then she RAN into her "safe place" (aka-her crate). Doesn't she look adorable? She looks like a little puppy, but she's actually 10 yrs. old. She is a Pekingese/Chihuahua mix.
If it turns out good when she's dry, I'll have to add dog groomer to my resume. :)
Here's a photo of some of the hair that I cut off. She was a shaggy dog. See the real dark fur? That's from her ears. That's the color all her fur was when she was a puppy.

How many of you read the Country Register newspaper? They are available at state Welcome Centers. I'm considering doing an ad in the NC, SC issue and wondered if anyone else has tried it or visits shops advertised in the Country Register. Post a comment if you're either of these and let me know what you think. :)

What happened to Spring???

We've had a sneak preview of Spring, but then it was gone again. I'm ready for it to be a permanent fixture around here. It's raining, it's cold, but at least we're not dealing with the threat of a flood. Remember to keep all those folks in prayer that are dealing with the horrible threat to their homes and lives.

I've been real busy making inventory for the store so I've been slacking off on my posting. Please forgive the busy crafter! The new store is getting filled up and looking good, but we sure could use some more customers. :) I'm looking forward to when the tourist season starts and it's busier in the store and I'm not feeling like I want to take a nap! I love it when friends stop by to sit in one of the old rockers and visit for a bit. It not only makes the day go faster, but also wakes me up. And, I enjoy the company. So, if you're in the area be sure and stop by for a visit in the rockers.

More goodies for ya to purchase! Click on the photos and you'll be directed to the sales on etsy.

Miss Aggie & new bunny doll

My momma's name is Agnes (aka Aggie), so I had to make this doll cause her name is Miss Aggie! I used a Lakeview Primitives pattern to make her, but I altered it just a bit and made her a garden doll. She even has a primitive ditty seed bag!

After doing all those cutsie dolls in the last batch, I just had to make some "not so cute" prim stuff, so Aggie and the Americana bunny rabbit came to be. :)

See more photos of them (and of course you can even purchase them) in my etsy shoppe.

More dolls finished!

Here's a couple more cuties that I got finished today. The bunny is a twin to one I made last week and the little prim Annie doll is actually about as child safe as you get. She has no buttons and no rusty pins or bells. Her face is painted and so are her shoes and socks.
They're both for sale in my etsy shoppe at www.PriviesAndPrims.etsy.com
You could also click on the photos themselves to go right to that item.

My next projects will be dolls that are more primitive rather than cutsie. Be watching for them later this week.

Sassy Sally has been adopted and is on the way to her new home in Maryland to join her long lost sister that was adopted by the same sweet lady last year. Enjoy your new home Sally!

Spring is coming soon!!! I don't know about you, but I'm ready to see some pretty flowers and greenery in the mountains.

Forgotten Treasures~~~

I actually forgot that I had a bag of goodies in the car that I found on my hunt through the thrift stores.

In this first photo, you'll see some great baskets. I'm not really a basket person, but I've got plans for some of these. I've got another vision. :)

Also, see the watermelon placemat? It's like a braided rug, but the size of a placemat. I bought that to use as part of a display. Three vintage hankies will make their way into my store after they're washed and ironed. And a really cool find was some old pink leather ballet slippers! They are well worn and perfect for a prim ballerina doll. Gotta have vision!

Nothing in this photo was more than $1.00.

Next photo is a great quilt piece that I was lucky enough to find. I'll use it for display also. It's all made of flannel with 2" squares. I love it! And, it was only $1.00!!!

Also found a vintage metal recipe box. No family recipes, but still cool. :) It's for sale in my store for $5.00.

My last photo for today is a primitive Americana Crow and Pear penny rug tablerunner that I'm working on. I got all the stitching finished today and now I just have to sew the backing on, attach the pennies, and stitch around the border. The background fabric is quilted muslin. Look for it in my etsy store soon!

Girl's Day Out found treasures!

First I must show you what I received a couple days ago. I ordered a HUGE amount of wool felt from an ebay seller and it arrived weighing 44 pounds!!! The box is so HUGE, it almost took up the whole back seat in my mini-van. The photo really doesn't make it look as big as it is. I think I'm set for wool felt for a very, very long time and I'll be making lots and lots of penny rugs. :)
I've got great colors for Spring and Easter penny rugs, summertime Americana July 4th goodies, Fall pumpkins, and prim Christmas ornies. The possibilities are endless!
Now comes the fun of felting it all and finding a place to store it. :(

Ok, on to the treasures I found today while doing the thrift store circuit in Marion, NC with my good friend Susan. We had a great time and went to 3 thrift stores, Walmart, and for a BBQ lunch. Yummmmm.

Now, this has got to be one of the ugliest sweaters I've ever seen. But, I have a vision. Looks perfect to me for making sheep! I can even use the inside side to make darker sheep. Penny rugs, sheep dolls, etc., etc.

And, since all clothing was 1/2 price, this ugly sweater only cost me $3.00. What a bargain!

Next, I found me some cute jammies to wear while I'm bloggin'. :) At 1/2 price, they only cost me $2.00.

I found this other pair of jammie pants for summer since they're thin cotton. They've got the name "Marie" written inside, so if you're Marie, know that your pajama pants will be well loved. I don't remember what they cost, but I know they were 1/2 price.

I LOVE comfy clothes and this Old navy t-shirt fits the bill. It was a great buy at only $1.75.

I closed the store today to do this Girl's Day Out. Originally, we were planning on going to the QuiltFest in Pigeon Forge, but since they were calling for sleet, we decided to stay closer to home.
Now around here, when you take a day off, they call it "laying out", or "loafering". We are guilty! And we had a great day.
And a good day was had by all. Susan ran out of checks and I ran out of cash, so we had to go home. Next time we'll hit the shops in Asheville.
Be sure and make some time for your friends. Take time out from the craziness of life to enjoy the simple things.

One more doll done, many more to go

I finished Sassy Sally tonight. The names just come to me as I work on the dolls and this name came to me just after I finished her. :)

She's in my etsy store waiting to be adopted. But, be ready for her attitude!

A funny thing happened at the store today!

Today, I took my little Sweet Annie to get her rabies shot and then took her to the store with me. She's a 1-1/2 year old Dachshund and cute as can be! It was her first time at my store and she was pretty scared. A lady came into the store and started fussing with Annie and then she proceeded to sit on the floor to play and cuddle with Annie. She said she was in her 60's and trying to decide what kind of dog to get. She had just lost her cat and decided to get a dog. A Dachshund was one of her choices and when she left the store, she told me she was going to get a Dachshund. Annie had won her over!

I didn't have my camera with me, but I did have my camera phone, so I just had to take a photo of her on the floor!
It was the sweet moment of my day. :)
I'll be working on my primitive dolls tonight, so be looking for new ones soon!

Finished a bunny!

I made myself get at least 2 of the dolls clothed tonight. :) One is finished except for her ear bow. It's soaking in coffee, so her photo will have to wait.

Here's the one that is dressed and ready to go party! She measures about 12" tall and she's available in my etsy shop!

It's made from a Chestnut Junction pattern. Her patterns are soooo easy and so cute. I just love them all, but this has to be one of my favorites. If you're a doll maker, be sure and visit her site for patterns. www.chestnutjunction.com

The sun is shining!

Well, it's gonna warm up today, so I figured it was a good day to hang out the clothes. Doll clothes. The dolls have hair and faces, but they're naked! I soaked their clothes in a coffee/vanilla mixture all night and now they're hanging out in the sunshine!

Looks like I'll be sewing doll clothes tonight after work.

They're almost done!!!

Baby it's cold outside!

Snowing like crazy outside! I was supposed to go to an antique auction today, but my plans got changed. :)

So, what do we do when it snows all day and we can't go anywhere? I stay in jammies and work on dolls. Lots of dolls. Many, many dolls. I think there are 19 to be exact. Some are bunnies. Some are prim dolls, some are cutesy dolls. Some have found their arms and legs, and some are still searching. They will all be united by the end of this snowy day. :) Then, the faces and hair will start appearing.

I like to do things assembly line style, and this time I think I may have overdone it! I'll be posting them in etsy as I get them finished, so be watching!

Here's a group photo.

Stay warm everyone!
