8 new dolls & a prim sheep penny rug!

I just got finished listing lots of new primitive dolls and a penny rug in my etsy store!

The cute primitive sheep penny rug is my own design. Nice and small to fit on an end table~

This is Cassie. Love the fabric!
Katie has prim crows and birdhouses on her clothes. Perfect for a prim spring!
Cynthia is the fun loving gal. Her outfit has cherries on it, and she'd look real good sitting in a vintage doll high chair in your kitchen~

Check them all out and their friends
in my etsy shoppe~ http://www.PriviesAndPrims.etsy.com

$5.00 earrings & Amish corn cobs dolls~~~

I coffee stained the Amish corn cob dolls and got them listed on etsy and ebay. I put up a poll for a couple days and the majority vote was to leave them faceless. If you'd like to buy some, click on the photo~

I had to take the polls off my blog for awhile cause someone was clicking on them just for fun and not voting. Filled up my inbox, so I just took them off. Some people have nothing better to do than to be a pain to others. :(
Need some earrings at an affordable price? I just listed some on etsy at only $5.00 a pair!!! You choose which ones you want and how many pair. Click on the photo~

Amish Corn Cob Dolls

I made something "new to me" today. I took some corn cobs that I had from other crafts and made some Amish dolls!
So now, my question is....do I put faces on them or leave them faceless? I will be coffee staining them.

Help me finish her!

I've got "Hannah" almost finished, but I feel like she's still missing something. Besides her mouth. :)
Should I put shoes and socks on her, or leave her barefoot? Do you like the embroidery addition, or should I get rid of it? It's so hard for me to make something so plain!
Suggestions are welcome! And anything you know of to keep lint from sticking to the black cotton would be greatly appreciated!

Progress on 5-1/2 foot doll~

I've decided to make her Amish, so we shall call her "Hannah".

In this first photo, Hannah is spending some time at the primitive doll tanning booth. :)

After getting her grunge tan, Hannah made a new dress from pale yellow fabric. No prints for the Amish. Plain through and through. She is sooooo big that she looks right at home in my recliner! Kind of creepy really.

She hasn't made her apron or bonnet yet, but they're a coming! And of course, all her clothing will also be grunged. The dress will spend tonight soaking in a fresh tub of coffee/vanilla mixture.
Hannah also needs some hair and a mouth. I know that some people make Amish dolls without faces, but I decided to give her a very prim face.
I forgot to put the bra on her. I don't really think she needs it, so I'll keep that for another doll. Amish don't like to show their "features", so I'll not add anything to her body.

More photos to come as I finish her up.

What can you do with an old bra?

Use it on a primitive doll of course!

This girl will be 5-1/2 feet tall when she's all put together! I'm designing her as I go, so I'm not even sure what type doll she will be. I'm thinking maybe Amish, maybe hillbilly, maybe primitive prairie doll? I'll just let her speak to me as I go. :)

Amish airplane photo

I just found this on the web and thought I'd share it with you. We're going to Amish country in Lancaster for spring break. Maybe we'll fly on this airplane???

Privies & Prims closed for a couple days

Somethings stinkin' REAL BAD in my store. We are pretty sure it's a dead mouse, but can't find it. We think it's in the walls or ceiling. I sat in there the last three days with the smell, but finally gave up this afternoon. I may not open tomorrow.

I'm told that the smell shouldn't last much longer. God help us!

I left some craft fair applications in the mailbox.

Hopefully when I reopen on Wednesday it will be smelling like good candles again!

Pregnant Bunnies are Multiplying!

I just got finished an order for four pregnant bunnies! My shop neighbor just opened a maternity section in her store. She calls it "Bloomin' Bellies" and she wanted some pregnant bunnies for her store. What great gifts they'll make for the mommas to be. :)

It's kind of hard to see the faces with their bandanas on, but take my word for it---they're cute as can be! I made them with tan muslin.

I still like my dark brown one better though. It's painted brown and is available in my etsy shoppe. www.PriviesAndPrims.etsy.com

Win a Mercedes-Benz SL550 for just $50!

When it seems that everyone is sending their money to other places where millions and millions are already going, I decided to help someone here in the USA. I saw this on the Bonnie Hunt Show this morning.

If you decide to buy a "New Lungs For Chuck Raffle" ticket, PLEASE put my name (Doreen Brannan) as the way you found out about it. For every 5 that buy a ticket referred by me, I get a free ticket! And you can do the same for your referrals!
New Lungs For Chuck Raffle
Chuck Campbell’s survival depends solely on the generosity of the American people in his quest to raise $1 million for a life-saving procedure his insurance company will not cover.
Win a Mercedes-Benz SL550 AND a Florida Golf Course Townhouse for just $50.00!
Now I gotta admit that I thought twice (for just a second) about posting this cause the more people that enter, the less chance I get of winning. Just for that split second, I was selfish. Then I remembered that it will save someone's life. A father and a husband. Be selfless and help this family! And, if it's God's will, then you will win a car and a house, but we all win just by helping this family. Our reward will be in Heaven. :)

A Tutorial for Painting Doll eyes

Each time I have to draw out doll eyes, one always looks different, smaller, higher, lower-- you get the idea. I'm sure it's happened to all of us doll makers.

I'm going to show you how to take a scrap of cardstock and make a template for the eyes.

First, draw out the shape for one eye, cut it out, then place it on the doll and get an idea where you want the second eye to be. Mark a small X on the paper where the center of the eye should be.

Fold the paper in half to mark the center. The small X should be in the center of the eye that you've already cut out. Draw the other eye by drawing through the hole you already cut for the first eye. Then cut out the second eye.

Using the fold on your paper as a guide, place it in the center of your doll's face and draw the eyes onto your doll with a pencil.

That's it! Now you're ready to paint the eyes according to your pattern directions.

I drew my eye shape freehand without a pattern. If your doll's eyes are a different shape, use the shape you need. Just make the template as I did, only with your eye shape.
