Pattern Hutch store in Pigeon Forge

For a pattern-aholic like me, the Pattern Hutch is a dangerous place! You've probably seen their ad in magazines. Just about every time I visit Pigeon Forge, Tennessee I stop in and buy a pattern or two or three,,,,,,,,. You get the idea. :) They sell patterns for quilts, stitcheries, wood, cloth dolls, fabric, and they've got lots of the patterns made up for you see the finished product!

I'll be visiting there soon, so I better start saving up! They have a new website in the works (www.patternhutch.com) and a new online social network. Look to the left here for a box that will link you to "Talking Crafty". They're also on facebook and you can sign up to be a "fan"!

Have you seen the movie, "The Bucket List"? It's about having a list of things to do before you die. Top of my "list" would be to make all the things I have patterns for!

I've got dolls to stuff, so I better get stuffin'.

Somebody likes my work!

I got an email today that one of my penny rugs have been featured on Found Handmade's blog! http://www.foundhandmade.com/news/itemize Since I hadn't seen their site before, I was sure surprised! They have lots of great picks on their blog, so be sure and check it out!
I framed tons of stitcheries today that I've recently finished. I can't put them all on my site, so you'll just have to stop by the store in person and check them all out! They are my best seller, so it's hard to post them online and keep it up to date.
I've also got another batch of dolls in the works. A long, tall, skinny black doll with a baby~two grumpy old ladies(know any of those???)~a short, chubby black doll~four bag holder dolls~and others. I'll post them as soon as I get them finished up.

Mother's Day gifts

Gosh, I've been sooooo busy making stuff for my store that I hardly have time to be online anymore.

I did want to show you these two stitcheries I just finished for Mother's Day, but they could be used year round for many other occasions, or "just because" you like them. :) I love the primitive crows lined up with pip berries. It's like they're following mommy and don't want to get lost. :)
The other stitchery would be a great romantic gift. Maybe given with an engagement ring???
Or, it would also make a great gift for a special mom or child.

My etsy group is doing a Mother's Day Celebration. Just go to http://www.etsy.com/ and type OFGMDC in the search box. The letters stand for Old Farmhouse Gathering Mother's Day Celebration. It's a great group with LOTS of great talent!

Great prim penny rug finished!

This is my all time favorite of the penny rugs I've made so far. Now, I've only been making them since January of this year, so there may be many more favorites as time goes along. :)

For now, this is my favorite. If I didn't have to use my living room as my studio, it would be staying right here. As it is, I have no place for it where it wouldn't get covered up with craft projects and supplies, so my loss could be your gain!

It's on etsy for sale. Click on the photo and it will take you to the listing.

Hope everyone had a blessed Easter!

Wishing you all a blessed Easter day
and a loving hug from Jesus!

Snow???

Yesterday it was 70 degrees and a gorgeous day. I went to an antique auction and got some real good goodies. I'll post photos after I take them. :)
Today, they're calling for possibly 2-4 inches of snow and maybe blizzard conditions tonight with the high winds. Then, by Easter weekend, back near 70 again!

I'm going to take my nap and maybe when I wake up, I'll realize this was a bad dream. :)

stay warm!

Good eats & good stuff!

Well, I have been enjoying the Hilltop being open again. Had lunch there yesterday, breakfast today with the girls "breakfast club", and then dinner tonight with my son. I've made up for lost time! Everything was great! A friend gave me a gift certificate for Christmas, so I spent very little money. My favorite is the breakfast. Real homefries, not frozen cubes. :)

Ok, enough on the food. I think you've got the point that the Hilltop is worth going to. :)
I'll be posting about some other restaurants in Burnsville also, so when you come to visit, you'll have a good idea where you can have some yummy meals.
I finished a new penny rug today. The pattern is called "Bunny in the Berry Patch" and it's an "All Through the Night" pattern. So cute and lots of detail with french knots and stitching. It's listed in my etsy shop and on my website. Here's another photo of my new store. We're finally getting filled up, but still have room for more goodies. I stitched 6 stitcheries today since it was pretty slow in the store. At least I'm getting lots done! Had customers this week from Florida, Michigan, Ohio & Kentucky. Plus the great locals! I plan to put a map on the wall soon so folks can mark where they're from. Just a fun thought. :)
Time for me to get stuff ready to work on tomorrow. Maybe there will be tons of customers and I won't have time to stitch. (wish, wish)

A big day in Burnsville!

The day that many, many Burnsville locals have been waiting for, finally came to be this morning. The Hilltop Restaurant reopened after being closed for a looooonnnng 12 weeks for remodeling. The original plan was to be closed for 2-3 weeks, but we all know how remodeling goes. Over budget, over time. The end result was well worth the wait. It's the cleanest restaurant in Yancey County! And, it has the coolest retro decor!

Theresa and Judy scrubbed and scrubbed and David did lots of pressure washing. It's spic + span and shining bright! Retro diner type decor is so fitting for this restaurant. Homey and welcoming.
The Hilltop reminds me of "Cheers" where everybody knows your name. You can go in a stranger and before you leave, you'll most likely have made several new friends. That's if you're friendly yourself. :) No liquor at this bar though, just orangeades and banana splits.

It's the place to catch up on all the local "news" and the place to meet up with friends. My dad lovingly calls it my "office" cause I always go there when I'm meeting up with someone.
To all the ones that contributed to the new look, we the residents of Burnsville, NC commend you on a job well done! Take a bow and then get back to cookin' that good food and making some of the best sweet tea in town. :) See ya at breakfast............
